EPISODE 73

Evan Golub was a seemingly healthy 29-year-old until he woke up one day with a crazy case of vertigo, and four years and 30+ practitioners later he still had no diagnosis. He lived with pain and disorientation and was told by doctors that everything looked ok, it was all in his head, and he just needed to move on, prompting a period of deep feelings of isolation and loneliness.  Cue Hinge.com! He went on a date with a woman who ultimately reconnected with him when she started experiencing the same symptoms. Thus began their journey into researching the disease and treatment options, which sparked the idea to create Wana, an online community for people with chronic illnesses so that no one else need ever feel alone.

Evan Golub talks about...

  • The pain of living with undiagnosed illness, and the relief that comes with getting answers.  In his case, a latent case of Lyme disease.

  • Being his own detective and tracing back the steps and signs of illness back to childhood tick bite

  • What we know about Lyme disease--how it presents, how it hides, and what triggers it into action

  • The moment he made a shift towards functional medicine and never looked back

How the idea was born to create a community among those suffering like he did

How Wana differentiates from Facebook health groups based on robust data aggregation
